The World of Work

Future Careers

At Pinfold Street, we empower our children for the future by exposing them to a wide variety of skills relevant to the world of tomorrow. We are passionate about exposing our children to the world of work through our in school careers days and strive to improve aspirations and outcomes for all pupils.

Why?

Wide research shows that children start formulating ideas about the world of work from an early age. Our goal is not to direct children to a particular career path but to open up the world of possibilities and inspire our children to begin to the think about potential careers. We continue to challenge stereotypes, build confidence and encourage curiosity about the world of work.

What we do?

Each year, we hold a careers day. We invite local community leaders into school to discuss their jobs, what they enjoy about their role, the pathway to gaining employment and to upskill our pupils with information about different careers. The day is incredibly positive and it is a date in the calendar that all of our pupils look forward to.

For the past two years, we have also been lucky enough to build up a positive working relationship with HSBC. They attend school once a year to support our pupil’s financial education. We are honoured to have gained the HSBC UK Smart Money Award for two consecutive years, in 2024 and 2025.

Further to this, we promote the application process of the working world through the School Council and A-Stars application processes. To become a council member or an A-Star Sheriff, our children must complete an application form – which is scrutinised and shortlisted before attending an interview, further promoting the selection processes that our pupils will experience in future life.
